In 2007 the owners of Alpitye At Port Aboriginal Art Gallery Louella and Mark Guild opened an outlet in Port Macquarie selling central desert art. It started in 2005 after we spent a wonderful family holiday in Central Australia, where we developed an interest in the amazing and diverse paintings from this region. Our interest soon became a passion and has resulted in Louella returning to this region several times to build good relationships with a few of the art centres and small private arts studios.

One in particular has had over twenty years experience in the industry and has a great rapport with the artists. Louella always makes time to spend a few days with them as they give her the opportunity to sit with the artist to watch them work, learning directly from them about their paintings and their culture. Opening an art gallery in 2010 was just another stepping stone with our passion for aboriginal art. It was time to move it into its own space, so it could be appreciated in a more professional setting.
